• Do not keep hitting the opener button. If the door is not moving freely, running the motor over and over burns it out and turns a small repair into an opener replacement.
• Do not ignore a door stuck partly open. A door balanced on a broken spring or a loose cable can come down without warning. Keep people and cars out from under it.

Car Trapped Inside? How to Use the Manual Release Safely

If you need to get your car out before we arrive, you can disengage the opener yourself. Do it in this order:

1. 1Make sure the door is fully closed before pulling the release. If it is partly open and the spring is broken, stop and call us instead.
2. 2Find the red emergency release cord hanging from the trolley on the overhead track. It normally has a red handle.
3. 3Pull the cord straight down and slightly toward the door until you hear a click. That disconnects the door from the drive carriage.
4. 4Lift the door with both hands evenly from the bottom center. If it feels extremely heavy or will not budge, stop. The spring is likely broken and the door is not safe to lift.
5. 5Secure the door before you drive out. Clamp the track or have someone hold it. Never leave a door propped open unattended when the spring is broken.
